Our polishing team work incredibly hard to ensure your polished items come to you with a beautiful mirror shine. The process is incredibly labour intensive and done by hand, to ensure only the finest finish on our jewellery. This document sets out the processes involved, to help clarify why our polishing times are set at 7-10 days (although thanks to our dedicated team, often come out to you much sooner than this – particularly for orders containing only a few polished pieces).

Step One: Felt Wheel

Felt wheel to resurface using a heavy cut polishing compound, inspected and then wiped clean of any polishing compound.

All pieces with any flats edges i.e. labrets, flat backed navels, surface barbells etc, undergo this initial step and all subsequent steps.

Step Two: Closed Stitch Mop

Closed stitch mop to buff using a medium cut polishing compound, inspected and then wiped clean of any polishing compound.

Larger barbells, large ball attachments, and round navels undergo this initial step and all subsequent steps.

Step Three: Sandown Mop

Sandown mop to gloss using a super finish polishing compound.

All pieces not detailed above undergo this initial step and all subsequent steps.

Step Four: Ultrasonic

Ultrasonic cleanse to remove any impurities and identify loose stone settings.

Step Five: Rinse

Rinse to remove ultrasonic solution.

Step Six: Dry

Dry to prevent condensation in packaging.

Step Seven: Cloth Polish

Cloth polish to remove any watermarks and bring to high shine.

Step Eight: Inspection

All pieces undergo inspection by eye and with a jeweller’s loupe to identify any imperfections; repeat processes where necessary.

Step Nine: Quality Control

All order items (including non-polish pieces) are then brought together, bagged, labelled and clipped in invoice order.

Using this hand polished service ensures a superior mirror shine finish, removes blemishes and pitting in the metal and brings a sparkle and gloss to your jewellery that cannot be matched using a machine finish.
